st. mungo's hospital: what we know.august 2nd, 1950
by: GUY Mallord
It's been mere days since the incident at St. Mungo's occurred and the public still knows very little about what actually happened inside the hospital.
What we do know is, last week the entirety of St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries was evacuated in the middle of the day and all patients were escorted to the Ministry of Magic via Floo Powder. After this was complete, the Ministry of Magic sent in nearly the entire Department of Magical Law Enforcement to search the area. At the time no comments were made on who or what they were looking for or getting rid of.
Patients were only out of their respective wards for twenty-four hours. It has been reported that while they were not in the hospital building, they were being held in empty court chambers in the lower part of the Ministry with attentive healers to keep watch over them while the security sweep took place inside of St. Mungos.
Later, when the Ministry had finished conducting their search, it was declared that a minor 'incident' had taken place but the facility was clear and safe for patients and healers to return to. No explanation was given on the cause of the evacuation.
Fortunately the Prophet found someone willing to talk about what they had seen and heard that day, letting us in on what this might mean for the wizarding community.
"It was a creature of sorts..." Leonard Pickette said while interviewing with one of our other journalists.
"I haven't ever seen anything like it before, honestly. It was pale and the skin hung off from its body and you could see the bones under the skin. If I hadn't known better, I would've thought it was a person...but it just didn't look right."
Leonard was not available for further statements and after attempting to reach the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, we've been informed that an official press release will come in the next week.
This breach of security in one of the most secure locations in our community should be a wake up call to the witches and wizards of the United Kingdom. Our ministry should be held accountable for the unregistered creatures roaming our streets, wards, and homes. In response to this terrible situation, the Daily Prophet will be posting monthly the list of registered werewolves. We aim to keep our readers safe from harm in doing so.
